Kabīr – Workshop & Concert with Vipul Rikhi

Vipul Rikhi is a nationally and internationally renowned singer, poet, and writer. He has written a novel and is the author of several books on the art and culture of Bhakti and Sufi poets.

Vipul is known for his interpretations of the songs of these poets, especially Kabīr, the most famous representative of this tradition. He regularly gives concerts and workshops throughout India and has performed several times in Europe.

This weekend, Vipul will be our guest for a workshop and concert on the art and philosophy of Kabīr and other poets of the Bhakti and Sufi traditions.

Concert, 4 July

This evening, Vipul will present songs by Kabīr and other poets. The pieces deal with meditation, mysticism, social inequality, and the question of how to maintain balance in a chaotic world. The lyrics are free-spirited and provocative. They question all traditions and point to direct experience.

Workshop, 5-6 July

In his workshop, he will teach us how to sing some of Kabīr’s pieces. Vipul will use the songs to explore the thoughts and philosophy behind the words.

Kabīr’s thoughts are an enrichment for people who practice yoga and for anyone interested in a philosophy and culture that emerged in medieval India outside of orthodoxy and the mainstream.
